The Municipality of Brighton enjoys close proximity to Presqu’ile Provincial Park on Lake Ontario, and also includes the historic settlements and hamlets of Gosport, Smithfield, Cankerville, Hilton, Orland, and Codrington.

Brighton’s website features an application form page; the Planning tab there includes inquiry forms that can help you connect to Planning staff, as well as links to the Official Plan and Zoning By-Law. The Official Plan will be updated in 2026-27, so watch for changes.

On the by-laws page in the zoning by-law tab, there’s a link to a complete guide to Additional (Secondary) Dwelling Units. I’ve said here before that we cannot improve upon it, but apparently we can, because it’s currently being replaced with a new version. Until it’s back up, you’ll just have to reach out to Planning staff through the inquiry form.
